Correspondent types

When a recipient is added into the database, its address format is analyzed and qualified with an address type. The notion of correspondent type is used in most traffic reports to segment internal and external traffic by allowing to filter and group messages by correspondent type.

Promodag Reportsrecognizes the following correspondent address types:

  Address type Description
 Internal This address type is assigned to all types of internal recipients, i.e. those that were found in the directory :
  • Mailboxes
  • Distribution groups
  • Dynamic distribution groups
  • Public folders.
 Unidentified local recipient
  1. The format of this address is SMTP.
  2. This SMTP address belongs to a SMTP domain for which the Exchange organization is authoritative (a 'local domain').
  3. No recipient was found to be associated with this SMTP address in the directory.
 Internet
  1. The format of the address is SMTP.
  2. This SMTP address does not belong to a SMTP domain for which the Exchange organization is authoritative.
 Others CCMAIL The address type is CCMAIL.
DSN Delivery Status Notifications. This address type is assigned to the DSN recipient type.
<empty> The address type is <empty>.
Exchange Unified Messaging The address type is EUM.
Fax The address type is FAX.
FAXMAKER The address type is FAXMAKER.
Foreign Exchange The format of the address is X500, i.e. a legacy Exchange address (/O=Org Name/OU=Admin Group/CN=Recipient/CN=mailNickname), but the organization name is different from yours.
Lotus Notes The address type is Notes.
MacMail The address type is MSA.
MAPIPDL The address type is MAPIPDL.
MHS The address type is MHS.
MIGRATE The address type is MIGRATE.
MSFAX The address type is MSFAX.
MS-Mail The address type is MS.
NOMAIL The address type is NOMAIL.
Novell GroupWise The address type is GWISE.
RFAX The address type is RFAX.
Session Initiation Protocol The address type is SIP.
SMS The address type is SMS.
System  The address type is SYSTEM.
<Unknown> The address type is <Unknown>.
X400 The address type is X400.
X500 The address type is X500, i.e. a legacy Exchange address (/O=Org Name/OU=Admin Group/CN=Recipient/CN=mailNickname).
