Data source: Message tracking

Description

The message tracking data source is used to produce the email traffic reports. The application reads message tracking files on the Exchange servers, analyzes their content and stores the result into the database.

Multiple events are recorded in Exchange message tracking file when a message is sent. Promodag Reports only filters and imports useful events. Promodag Reports makes a distinction between traffic events and flow events.

Traffic events

They are generated when a message is sent or received by a recipient, such as mailbox or a public folder.

Flow events

They are generated when a message enters or exits the server.

For example a message sent from User A on Server A to user B on server B will generate a "sent traffic" event on server A then a "flow out" event on server A then a "flow in" event on server B then a "traffic receive" event on server B.

Flow events are not imported be default because
